Top Packing Tips for Mexico

Vacationing in Mexico is a pretty stress free thing to do. So deciding what to pack should be just as easy, right? Well most of Mexico’s beach destinations, like Cabo san Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, are pretty westernized with supermarkets that you’ll recognize like Wal-Mart. So, if you forget your toothbrush or beach towel, you’ll be fine!

With that said, however, if there are specific things you need due to allergies or medical conditions, you’d be best to bring enough with you as specific brands might be difficult to find. Here are some top packing tips for Mexico that you should consider.

When embarking upon a Mexican vacation you should always remember to bring:

MEDICATION
Bring all the medications you need, and be sure that you bring enough to last you your whole stay as certain specialized products may not be available. This packing tip for Mexico could be a matter of life and death!

CAMERA
You’ll certainly want to take lots of photos while on your Mexican vacation, and sometimes your smart phone camera just won’t be powerful enough, so remember your camera. A waterproof camera will have the added bonus of being able to get pictures while snorkelling, diving, or even paddle-boarding.

SUN CREAMS
SPF and UV protection are of the utmost importance in Mexico where the heat can get intense! Make sure you pack enough for your whole trip as you might not be able to get your favourite brand once in Mexico. You will, of course, be able to buy sun creams in Mexico, but you might find the brands you like are harder to find, or more expensive to buy.

BEACH CLOTHES
The sea is a huge part of any Mexican beach vacation, and very often you will find the waters are safe for swimming. Even if they aren’t there will be pools and hot tubs to grab your attention once you arrive, so make sure you have your bathing suits and beach clothes at the ready.

Don’t bother bringing:

TRAVELLERS CHEQUES
They are impossible to spend, and it is very hard to change travellers cheques in Mexico unless you go into the bank (not the best vacation activity). Just be sure to bring dollars, or Pesos, with you or draw money out at an ATM in the airport.

Remember, also, to leave your troubles behind, and leave a comment if you can think of any other tips!
